I used to always struggle applying eyelashes, to the point where I stopped trying, but I love how they look, so I just had to get the hang of it. I experimented a lot, doing different things, trying different glues and lashes till I finally cracked it! If your in the same position I was, have a go at following these few tips that helped me master the beauty of false lashes.
If you aren’t very confident when applying lashes, I would say to apply them first, before doing any of your eye make-up, until you get the hang of it. I can’t even tell you the amount of times I ended up completely ruining my makeup while trying to stick the thing on! Don’t get angry or frustrated, just keep practicing, it’s honestly the best thing to do.
GET EVERYTHING YOU NEED BEFORE YOU STA RT
I’v been there, when I’ve been in a rush, stuck my lash on to then realise I haven’t got a clue where my tweezers are! By the time I’v found them my glue’s dried completely and I ended up starting all over. So the best thing to do is get everything you know you need around you, I now make sure my lashes, glue, tweezers, mascara, scissors, eyeliner and a couple of cotton buds are in reach – I’v not had that problem since
TRIM – IF YOU NEED TOO
If you’re like me and can never get a set of lashes to fit your eye perfectly you’ll need to trim them down. Never guess and Never cut the inside, always take it off the end. – Remember lashes are designed to fit in with your real lashes.
DON’T APPLY MASCARA FIRST
This is very important if you have long lashes. Once you’ve got mascara on, your own lashes will get in the way and you won’t be able to get the lashes on or see if your getting it right on your lash line. Wait till the glue has dried and then apply mascara to blend your natural lashes in. – you don’t have to wear mascara to get them to look right, if your false lashes are very natural you might not need any at all.
GET A GOOD GLUE
Having a good glue is so important, you don’t want to be running to the mirror every half hour to stick it back on, its just not worth the hassle, you need find the right glue for you. I use the Salon System Eyelash Adhesive and I love it, it gets tacky so quickly, sticks straight on and lasts for ages! Colour also matters, black glue can be used to create a fuller ‘liner’ look, or with eyeliner to fill in gaps and clear its probably the best to use if you aren’t planning on wearing any eyeliner – again, do what you prefer.
LET IT DRY, A BIT
A lot of people make the mistake of putting the eyelash straight on and waiting for it to dry on the eye. This can make a real mess, and it will take a lot longer to dry fully. Letting the glue get tacky before makes such a huge difference. it stops you getting wet glue all over your eye and helps to set it all down in the right place.
FIND YOUR WAY
Everyone applies their lashes different ways, experimenting to find what suits you is probably the best advice I can give you . I’ve found that applying the lashes with my fingers, moving them if need be with tweezers and pressing them down with a cotton bud is the best way for me. I feel like I’v got a lot more control when using my fingers instead of tweezers but a lot of people prefer to apply with tweezers.. It’s up to you, you have to find out how you do it best.
HAD ENOUGH? TURN TO THE EYELINER
If your now fed up and still struggling to get your lashes close to the lash line then get the black liquid eyeliner out, cover up the gap and no one will even notice. – Make sure the glue has fully dried first.
