Make The Most Of Your Wardrobe
Since it’s spring, and it’s time for spring cleaning, I thought I’d share how I organise my wardrobe in hope to inspire you, or find out a few things myself.
Organising your wardrobe can help in so many ways. It makes it easier to choose a gorgeous outfit for the day, find a certain item you’re looking for and discover things that you have completely forgotten about.
I have a standard wardrobe, 1 rail and 1 shelf. But I really try to make the most of it. I am a serious clothes hoarder and shopaholic, and let me tell you, they do not work well together. This used to leave me with an unbelievably messy and unorganised wardrobe full of clothes I never wore, until i decided to sort it out.
Now I have an organised wardrobe, I find it so much easier to keep it that way. I can keep up to date easily with the season, find better more beautiful outfits than the ‘usual throw this on because I can’t be bothered’ and make room for more by giving the clothes I hardly wear to charity
So, this is how I organise my wardrobe.
Take Everything Out
Yep, start by taking everything out, completely empty it, all over the bed. But keep it in categories, this ways it’s easier to sort through each thing and put it in some sort of order.
Baskets & Storage
Baskets are your best friend, and a shoe rack is a must. I have 4 baskets in my wardrobe and a gorgeous shoe stand stood at the back.
- I keep boots and trainers on the stand so I can easily grab them, but still keep them out of the way – There is space under & around the stand for extra shoes! Then I keep a little basket the front full of dollies/ballerinas so I can grab them easily.
- I use another basket for a few clothes that I can’t hang, and I keep them rolled instead of piled so that I can see everything
- I also have 2 baskets that I use for hair products & tools, for me it’s the best place to keep them because I use them all the time. – You can tailor these baskets to keep whatever you need in them, whatever you use on a regular basis.
- I fill the rest of the space with things I use a lot, like spritz & handbags.
Hanging & Organising
While all the clothes are still on the bed, still on there hangers, make your through them one by one, separating them into categories, I sort mine into – Shirts, cardigans, strappy tops, t-shirts and then everything else. As I’m putting them away I colour co-ordinate each category. A great storage hack is to hang a few strappy tops on the same hanger, this saves so much room!
Get Ready For The Season
Keeping all you clothes hung up in the wardrobe can really waste space, especially if there’s big fluffy jumpers & giant winter coats. Store them away until you need them. All my winter clothes that I might not be wearing during the summer go into a pretty little box that I keep at the back of my wardrobe and all the clothes I might have stored away come back out.
I’d love to know how you keep your wardrobe organised & if you have any tips that might help too! So do let me know in the comments! I hope I have inspired you to make the most of your wardrobe
