The day before yesterday it was my gorgeous Bella’s 7th birthday. As you all probably know, I’m completely smitten with my dogs so they always gets spoilt on their birthdays. This year I decided to blog about it & share a recipe that I used to make some special banana & honey pup cakes for all the pups in the family.
What you will need: [makes 12]
For the pupcakes:
300g of wholemeal flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg, beaten
160ml of milk
90g of runny honey
For the icing:
Cream cheese, softened
A little bit of honey
2 tablespoons of plain yogurt.
[optional] dog treats to decorate.
To make the banana & honey pupcakes:
Preheat your oven to gas mark 3/160°C/325°F
Line your muffin/yorkshire pudding tin with bun cases
Mix the dry ingredients together [flour & baking powder] Mash the bananas
Add the beaten egg, milk and runny honey to the bananas – mix together well.
Mix the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients together and stir until combined
Pour the mixture into the bun cases, remember that they do not rise much, and bake for 25 – 30 minutes, until golden brown.
To make the icing: Simply whisk all the ingredients together, add more if needed, and scoop into a piping bag. Place in the fridge until buns are ready to be iced.
Once the buns are cooked through and cooled completely, they are ready to be iced and the treat of choice placed on top, I went for the Pedigree Biscrok Milky Biscuits
I kept mine in a seal proof tub in the fridge to avoid the cream cheese melting
[please take care when feeding your dog these pupcakes and only feed around 1/4 – 1/2 depending on the size of your dog & remember this recipe makes 12, probably best to half all of the ingredients if you don’t have many dogs in the family]
Now here’s a few photos of Bella enjoying her birthday and unwrapping all of her presents [yes, she gets wrapped presents and enjoys unwrapping them all, which is actually a bit chaotic when it’s someone else’s birthday.. ] #crazydoglady
Let me know if you have any amazing doggie recipes, it’s Tia’s birthday soon and I have something a bit special planned!
