Do’s & Don’ts For Better Hair
I definitely made the mistake of over straightening & dying my hair too much when I was younger. As soon as I first got my hands on some hair straighteners and a bottle of dye my hair was doomed. Until around 6 years ago when I decided it’s time to show my hair some love. Over the years I’ve found some brilliant tips that really helped me get my hair back to full health. So today I’m going to share with you some of the Do’s & Don’ts that I’v learnt for better hair
Don’t over wash your hair
Washing your hair more than 2 times a week can really cause a few problems. Your hair will notice & start to over produce oil to try and keep it healthy, leaving your roots extremely greasy, but the ends of your hair will be completely stripped of all the natural nutrients it needs, forcing the ends to become dry & brittle. It’s not ‘dirty’ to not wash your hair everyday, it’s natural and good for you, but their are also many good products to use in between washes to help keep your hair clean
Do condition every time you shampoo
Every time we shampoo our hair, we are washing out the oils our hair needs to stay healthy. Using a conditioner each time you shampoo kind of replaces the oils that have been washed out to keep your hair feeling soft and looking healthy.
Don’t over brush your hair
Every time you brush your hair, especially when it’s tangled, your damaging your hair, causing it to break and create split ends. Running your fingers through your hair before brushing, using de-tangling products & using a tangle teezer can really minimise the damaging effects.
Do use a tangle teezer
As I’v just mentioned, using a tangle teezer can make a massive difference to the overall quality of your hair. They are designed to work through your tangles without breaking your hair and it really does work, I noticed a difference as soon as I got mine.
Don’t use heat every day
As we all know, any type of heat can damage our hair, but more often than not we are using heat on quite a regular basis, especially if like me, you have very unruly hair. This doesn’t mean that you can’t use heat at all though, because there are many ways to avoid using heat every day. Try using other styling products to style your hair without straightening, curling or blow drying it & put your hair on a ‘diet’ only allow yourself to use heat only on certain days of the week.
Do use oils
Oils are amazing for your hair, and there are so many to choose from! Just applying a tiny bit of oil to the ends of your hair every other day can make such a difference. I love to run some argon oil through my hair just after its been washed, this makes it feel soft, look shiny and make it so much easier to control. & if you use them right, and not too much, they will not make your hair greasy at all.
I hope these do’s and don’ts have helped! Let me know if you’ve got any tips!
& because I ramble so much this post has been split into 2 & I will be back with another do’s and don’ts soon!
