I shouldn’t even have to say this, because we all know, I am a mascara addict. So of course, when I see a new mascara, I need to try it. Rimmel have revamped their Scandaleyes mascara and released a brand new reloaded version which promises to give you extreme volume without clumps and 24 hour wear that is sweat proof, smudge proof & humidity proof while also being easy to remove. I was definitely up for putting it to the test.
There’s not too much to say about the packaging really, except that it is available in 2 tube colours, orange being black and the black packaging being ‘extreme black’ which I obviously went for. There is also one other thing to mention which brilliant – there is a click shut lid, which means no more leaving your mascara open a bit for it to dry up and become unusable.
The wand is definitely the kind of wand I go for. Big, bulky, fluffy looking wands are by far my favourite and they definitely do work to give you more volumes. The new and improved Rimmel Scandaleyes wand is tapered in a classic shape which is simple and very effective.
As usual, the mascara is a bit too wet at first, making it a bit hard to achieve a good look, but with my favourite technique, using a clean wand or the much loved Avon Supershock to keep your lashes separate, it’s so much better. After a couple of uses, the mascara dries up a little, making it a lot easier to use.
But what about volume? Does it really give you ‘dangerously bold, lethally full lashes’? Well I can tell you, yes, kind of. There is definitely a lot volume and some length. 1 coat gives a good amount, 2 even more and you can even add another because like it says, it does not clump, at all. Although there is a downside to this mascara, it just doesn’t seem to give you much curl, which means you do have to curl your lashes before, or use a separate mascara to give it a bit of a push, which I do anyway to be honest.
As for long lasting, I’d also say it can handle anything. A full day at work, out in the rubbish weather, even a nap! Not a single smudge at all. But that did make me think, can I really remove this with just warm water when it can stay put through all that? Well I did, completely, no tugging at all, it just wiped right away.
Rimmel promised a lot with this mascara, and they definitely kept their promise. This probably isn’t the best mascara for you if you have straight lashes, but if your wanting volume and length then I’d definitely recommend it. I can see this mascara being a new love for me now.
