Winding Down

Lately, my life has been a little hectic – actually, it’s been very hectic, which has not left me with much time to myself. But, I do know how important it is to take a break, wind down and relax.

When it comes to putting myself first, it’s pretty hard for me, I spend a lot of time trying to make everyone else happy, I think we all do. I know though, to achieve this, I do need to be happy myself. Occasionally, I’ll make sure to turn off the worries and focus on myself, have some ‘me’ time. There’s quite a few things to do, and some of them are so simple we don’t even realise it’s a way to wind down. I thought I’d just share a few of these with you today.

Take a day off, for you.
Whatever you do on a daily basis, take a break from it. Book the day off and do what you want to do. Don’t feel guilty about it either, it’s your day and you can spend it in anyway you like.

Have a relaxing bath.
Baths are the perfect way to relax, literally, just relax. They just make you feel so good, especially when the candles are burning and you’ve got a good book in your  hand and a face mask on.

Read
When we read, we get lost in a book and completely forget the real world. What’s a better way to relieve stress than getting lost in an adventure or a fairytale, while you’re actually tucked up in bed eating as much junk food as you can?

Colour, cross stitch or do something crafty.
Doing something can also be the perfect way to wind down as well as be a bit productive. Creating things is extremely therapeutic and relaxing, you also feel like you’re doing something, while not really doing anything.

See the people you love the most.
When life is hectic we don’t get the chance to see our loved ones as much as we’d like to. Which can really get us down. Making plans to see each other can really lift our spirits and help us to just have some fun, which in turn, helps us to wind down.

What do you do to wind down?
