What Beauty Blogging Is All About.
I’ve been planning on writing this post for quite a while now, but I just didn’t know how to get my point across in the right way. I’m going to have a go anyway, I hope it makes sense.
I first decided to write this post to help people understand what beauty blogging is all about, and why we do it. But as I started writing it, I realised that this could also give someone the confidence that they may need.
When I first started blogging, I knew of the beauty community, but I did not realise how amazing it actually is. I was really nervous and extremely scared of being judged by people that didn’t understand, now though, I’ve gained so much confidence through my blog that I’m not scared to share what I have to say anymore.
Beauty Blogging is extremely big now, bigger than I ever thought it was, but there are still people that don’t really understand what it’s all about and even make comments like ‘what’s the point’ ‘you write about makeup?’. Fortunately, I’ve been lucky enough to not receive any hate so far, actually all I have received is support which makes me pick up my laptop every single day and I am so thankful to you all for that. But I have unfortunately seen it and that makes me want to address everyone out there and show everyone how amazing and powerful us beauty bloggers really are because there’s a lot more to blogging than some may think.
Beauty Blogging isn’t about receiving free makeup and writing about it, not at all. Infact nearly everything I review, I’ve bought myself, and I review it because I want to share how great, or not so great it is with the world and maybe help someone.
– I’ve always suffered with redness on my cheeks and it’s always knocked my confidence when going out without makeup on, I read tons of blogs as a way of finding things that would help me cover it, but the bloggers behind those blogs, also taught me, that I shouldn’t be ashamed, it’s my skin and I should be happy in it. Yes I still prefer to use higher coverage makeup, because I want to, but reading those blog posts really gave me a boost to make me feel more confident.
To get to the point – blog posts written by beauty bloggers can really help people and give them that self esteem they might be looking for, and so much more, even if it is just finding the perfect eyeliner.
Blogging in general is also a great way to escape normal life, as a kind of outlet. With all the bad things going on in the world, there’s a little space on the internet filled with amazing bloggers and readers that can have a good ol’ natter about a beautiful lipstick that picked up the other day, just like you would with a friend.
Another big point I want to get across about all bloggers, is how much hard work goes into it. It’s not just writing up a post, taking a few quick photo’s and pressing publish. It’s so much harder than that. We spend hours, even days perfecting our posts and photo’s, then we spend more time sharing it; that’s not all either. I love to connect with everyone, which is why me and a friend created a facebook group, dedicated to connecting with fellow bloggers. A lot of time and effort also goes into that too, and all the other social media’s we all have and maintain. It’s a huge job and we deserve some credit for it, there’s a lot more behind being a blogger than some realise.
We don’t write about beauty because we love ourselves, or because we are too small minded to care about anything else, we write about beauty for many reasons, too many to mention in fact, but I hope these few points can make a difference, to show everyone that beauty blogging is not ‘vain’ or ‘pointless’, in fact, it’s powerful and can make a huge difference to someone’s life, even if it is just to one person.
