5 Of My Favourite Books
One of my favourite things to do is read, it always has been, I love being completely swept inside a book and forgetting everything that’s going on in the world. Books inspire me and make me see things in different ways. Books also just give me a break, have time to just relax & have a laugh or get lost in a mystery. I’ve read my fair share over the years but I do have my favourites so I thought it would be nice to share 5 of them with you today.
If someone asked me ‘what’s your favourite book’ Oogy – The Dog Only A Family Could Love, instantly springs to mind. It has got to be the most sad but heartwarming story I have ever read and it definitely restored my faith in the human race. As you all know, dogs are my passion, so as soon as I heard about this book I bought it and read it within 2 days. I cried a lot but I also laughed a lot and my heart just melted throughout. The story is completely true, which makes it even more touching, written by Oogys owner himself. Oogy was used as a bait dog when he was only young which left him with brutal transfiguration, but thankfully he was found and saved just in time. The Levin family adopted him and cherished him for 12 beautiful years that Larry Levin shares in this incredible book.
My second favourite is another dog book, I remember going on and on about it for weeks after reading it because I just needed other people to read it too. It’s All About Treo is also a true story written by Sgt. Dave Heyhoe, Treo’s handler. The pair work together to protect each other and the rest of the soldiers from Talibans IEDS while out at war. The story is full of heartbreak, laughter and true ‘mans best friend’ love. I admire anyone who loves their dog just as much as Dave loves Treo and you can feel it all the way through the book.
Of course I’ve got to put some Harry Potter in here haven’t I? I can’t actually decide on a favourite at all because each story has got something unique that I love about it. however, Chamber Of Secrets is definitely my favourite film so let’s got with that one. I absolutely love disappearing for a while to the amazing wizarding world of Harry Potter, but don’t we all? I don’t need to explain myself here do I?
One you might not expect is Twilight. The Twilight Saga has very mixed views but I can’t leave it out. These books got me out of the biggest reading slump I had ever been in, and at the time of reading them I remember only ever caring about reading my book. I was obsessed, I never put it down. I was completely lost in this crazy world and I was loving it. I was just at the right age when these books were realised to being crazy in love with Edward just like the rest of the girls my age. I don’t know how I’d feel reading them now, but I can imagine feeling very nostalgic. (there’s no picture ‘cos I can’t find my books!)
My final favourite book is one from my favourite genre that I only recently read. Ages go I read a thriller that really put me off them so I just stopped reading them, but one of the first ones I’ve read since, that really got me back into loving thrillers was Bone Cold by Erica Spindler. I was hoked from beginning to end and it wasn’t what I expected at all. This book is the reason that I have read so many amazing thrillers since, so it’s got to be in my favourites hasn’t it.
