Younique Moodstruck Matte Liquid Lipsticks
A couple of weeks ago I got the chance to try out 4 of the Younique Splash Liquid Lipstick that I’d been lusting over ever since they were released. You know my love for liquid lipsticks so of course I couldn’t say no! I’ve only ever disliked one Younique product that I’ve tried so I had really high hopes for these.
Just a quick disclaimer – I’ve mentioned before, my sister in law is a rep so quite often I get to try out their new products but I’m definitely not biased and all opinions are my own. I’m not here to advertise the products, I’m simply here to share my thoughts on them.
The packaging // I really, really like this packaging, I don’t think I’ve got anything bad to say about it. I love the fact that even though the packaging is black you can see the colour at the bottom and through the ‘splash’ on the front which just makes everything a little easier. The size is also a bit bigger than your usual liquid lipstick packaging but I don’t think it causes any issues, if anything it’s a benefit because it holds more product.
The Colours // I was actually a bit disappointed when I saw the colour selection if I’m honest it just seems a bit rubbish compared some other brands collections. There’s 10 shades to choose from, no light nudes may I add, but quite a wide variety of different colours. There’s pinks, purples and reds, even a blue, but no nudes which is obviously the main reason I’m a bit upset. Anyway, I tried out Soulful, a nude type pink, Sizzling a beautiful bright orangey red, Spellbound a vampy purple and Sentimental a gorgeous lilac pink.
Pigment // The pigment is amazing, only one light coat is needed for a full cover so you don’t need to layer it on plus you don’t waste any either trying to build it up. Even the lighter shades are perfectly pigmented.
Formula // This is a formula I didn’t expect when I’d heard about them. Since they’re matte and liquid I expected them to be quite drying like many other liquid lipsticks but I had quite a shock the first time I tried them. They are sooo creamy, quite like the Maybelline Vivid Mattes but more so. I do wish they were a tiny bit less creamy because there’s always that worry of ‘omg have I just smudged it all over my face’ but so far I haven’t had that problem and they do dry up a bit, I guess it just takes a little while longer than usual.
To say they are extremely creamy they really do last, like all day. Due to the pigmentation, even when they come away a little bit the colour is still there so it doesn’t look patchy at all just a bit faded which is a massive plus for me.
Overall // The price is honestly the only thing that puts me off. Because they are so like others that I have tried for under £10 I can’t justify it but the pigmentation and the fact they really last all day makes them so appealing. I’m obsessed with Soulful and I’ve been wearing it non stop it’s just a beautiful colour. I’d definitely recommend them to you if you don’t mind paying a bit more for something that will really last.
