NYX Matte Lipstick Couture Mode
One of my favourite, well probably my ultimate favourite, brand for liquid lipsticks is NYX. I absolutely love the formula, I love how long they last and the colours are stunning so of course this made me curious about the rest of their lip products. Since NYX hasn’t actually been in Boots for that long I haven’t had chance to make my way through everything I want to try but I have managed to tick something else of my list that’s been there quite a while. This is their gorgeous Matte Lipsticks. A little while back I decided to have a look through their range. The colour that stood out to me the most was Couture Mode and I just had to have it. I’ve been obsessed with it now for quite a while as you probably saw from my March Favourites but I just needed to tell you all why this lipstick is so amazing.
It’s pretty simple really, just like the rest of the NYX range. It’s a black tube with white writing, what more can I say? I like the fact you can see the colour too, it depends on how much you roll it back down, but if you do it enough, you’ll be able to see the colour without opening it. This is a huge plus for me tbh, I’m so used to using liquid lipsticks now that I want to be able to see the colour on all my lipsticks before opening it, so I love this. The lid also closes with a click, so this is always a plus.
First Impressions //
I’ve tried that many matte lipsticks now that all differ from one another I didn’t really know what to expect, I did have quite high hopes though. I swatched it first in the shop and only did one swipe, I could already see the amazing pigment and how creamy it felt just on the back of my hand so of course I had to buy one. I applied it straight away and I fell in love. It was the first time I’d ever applied a lipstick, ever, that I seriously loved from the get go, there was not one thing I could complain about. It applied so easily, it hardly needed any application to get a good colour from it and it didn’t even dry into any of my lines. Another massive plus for me is there’s no smell! I find it so frustrating when you love a lipstick but hate the smell, so luckily I don’t have to worry about that with these.
As you know, my go to lip colour is nude, so of course I went for a nude, but this time I pushed the boat out a bit. This colour is more of a pink toned nude, still quite nude, but with a lovely hint of pink. It’s light, easy to wear, sensible and overall perfect.
After about 5 weeks of using this lipstick none stop, I am in love. It’s honestly like I’ve found the perfect lipstick for me that I’ve been on the hunt for, for so long now.
It lasts, really really well. Like all lipsticks, it fades throughout the day or once you’ve eaten but not half as bad as some other lipsticks I’ve tried, you still have the colour, just not all the pigment, and it’s really easy to reapply. No messing about taking off the first lot because it just blends right in. It doesn’t sit on top feeling heavy of thick, it settles and feels like you’ve just applied it fresh.
It’s not drying at all, even though my lips have been quite bad recently, it’s not sat in the cracks or made them look dry, if anything, it’s as though it helps to add some moisture back into them.
I’ve now decided I need some more of these beautiful lipsticks and I’ve already got my eyes on Hippie Chic, Crave & Audrey and cannot wait to add them to my new collection.
