I’m completely obsessed with anything pastel coloured, and when it comes to nail polish, even more so. I think pastel polishes are absolutely perfect for Spring, don’t get me wrong, I love a bright colour, especially yellows, but I definitely reach for pastels more at this time of the year. I’ve picked out 5 of my absolute favourite Barry M pastels for Spring.
Lemon // Even though I’ve had these nail polishes for years, as you can seriously tell by the bottles, they are still going strong, especially this absolutely beautiful yellow that only needs one coat! Yes, you read that right, which makes it perfect if you’re in a rush but if you are like me, 2 coats makes it look it’s best but you can seriously get away with one. It’s a thick consistency, which is why you only really need one coat but it dries quite quickly, not the quickest, but it’s not too bad. The colour is the main reason I love this polish though, it’s perfect. It’s not too bright, it’s quite soft, but it stands out, it looks gorgeous.
Berry // Another one that’s still going strong and only needs one coat, 2 if your wanting a full on colour, which does make it a little darker, and I do prefer it lighter, with once coat it’s a gorgeous lilac shade which is obviously perfect for Spring. It’s a thick consistency and dries just like your usual polish and lasts well with a light top coat. With two coats its more of a purple, less pastel like but still beautiful and easily wearable.
Blue Moon // Pastel blue is another colour that I adore in Spring especially, I don’t know why but I just become obsessed with blues. This blue is definitely my go to it’s literally the colour of the blue sky on a cloudless day so how could it be any better, although it’s rare to see the sky with no clouds over here tbh, but still. It’s just like the others except this one does need at least two, if not three coats to get the full effect which does make it chip a little quicker but with a thin layer of top coat it helps and it can last about 3 days until you get fed up and take it off to re-do it. It’s worth it though just for the absolutely stunning colour.
Strawberry // This one’s had quite a battering over the years and when I pulled it out the other day to apply it I thought, there’s no way this is still going to work, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find it worked even though I was nearly scraping it out of the bottle. Even then I expected it to be a little gloopy, but nope. It’s amazing. This colour is by far the best pastel pink I’ve ever used, it’s soft, cute and so beautiful on and the fact that it’s lasted all these years being used over and over again and still works makes it so much better. It dries a lot quicker which is probably due to it being quite old so I did have to rush to get it on perfectly, but it was completely dry by the time I’d done my other hand and it does need quite a few coats to get the full colour so it’s quite good that it dries quicker. It chips a bit, not too much though and it doesn’t peel, lasts probably 4 days at best.
Mint Green // This gorgeous green is probably the only green that I own, I’ve just got this problem against green, but I really love this one. As the name suggests, it’s a lovely shade of mint green with maybe a little more turquoise and I love it. It’s nice and thick, and it only needs one coat again, unless you want it to be a bit darker, but it covers completely with just one. Because you only need a thin layer it doesn’t chip much and it lasts so well, probably the best out of the lot.
