Maybelline Master Camo // Does It Really Work?
I love, colour correcting, I have for years now, I rely on it sometimes. I struggle quite a lot with redness on my cheeks, and one of the best things to tackle that is a green corrector, and more often that not they work for me. When I saw that Maybelline had released a colour correcting palette, I desperately wanted to give it a try. If you didn’t know, Maybelline is one of my favourite drugstore brands, it’s not often that I’ve been left disappointed by one of their products, so of course, I had pretty high hopes.
The packaging is just your average plastic palette holding six different colour correcting creams, I have light, so there’s a yellow shade a pink shade, 2 skin toned shades, a green and a highlighter. It also comes with a little brush but I find it a lot easier and more precise to apply with my fingers anyway.
I have an old post here all about colour correction if you want to know a little more about it
Each shade is just the right consistency, creamy, but quite thick, which is what you need from a colour corrector. It blends easily with your finger or a brush, and settles softly into the skin so there’s no harsh, obvious colour difference. The lighter skin toned shades seem a bit useless, I use my normal neutral concealers instead and I would have preferred there to have been a purple colour corrector but they do give a bit of coverage and work with the coloured correcter’s to blend them in and make the skin look more natural if your going for a minimal look. The green, pink and the yellow have the perfect amount of pigment to hide any redness or smooth over dark under eyes and the highlight has a beautiful shimmer to it that gives a gorgeous glow to your skin.
It’s not the best colour correcting palette that I’ve ever tried, but it’s not disappointing, it works just as it should, it covers redness and it blurs out any dark circles, the highlight really adds life to the skin and the neutral colours work to blend it all together. It’s soft and comfortable and it lasts, you don’t see any redness starting to appear and it keeps those tired looking eyes at bay. It works amazingly for anyone looking for something to just even out their skin tone without having to wear heavy foundations and powders because it blends so beautifully, so if that’s what you’re looking for, I couldn’t recommend it more.
