Rimmel #Insta Fix & Matte Translucent Powder
I never planned to pick this new powder up, infact, I was in Superdrug debating with myself for about half an hour whether to buy it. I’ve tried quite a lot of translucent powders, but I’ve never thought all that much of them, I prefer a powder to give me a bit of added coverage as well as set my foundation, but I caved and of course I bought it. One of my favourite powders, is the Rimmel Stay Matte, so I think I was more swayed into buying it because I know how good their cheapest powder is, and of course the fact that the packaging is beautiful. I love the way they have printed the hashtags into the powder, it just makes it so much more appealing. Once I’d finally bought it, I was actually really looking forward to trying it.
I noticed quite quickly that you don’t get as much product in this pan as the Stay Matte Powder, and the price is quite different too, but I guessed that’s down to the fact that this powders new, and probably a lot better than one that’s been in their range for a very long time, so I’d kind of given myself high hopes before even using it, which is never a good thing. The first time I used it, honestly, I was a little down hearted about it, I don’t know what I was expecting, I knew it wouldn’t give me any extra coverage, I don’t know, I just wanted more I think..
The first thing I noticed as soon as I put the brush near my face was the smell, which I’m guessing will be spread through their new #Insta range since it doesn’t smell like any of their other products. It’s a gorgeous smell, a little overpowering, but I don’t think it will effect anyone, even with sensitive skin because you can no longer smell it once it’s applied. It’s got a really creamy like texture, there’s not much dust when you put you brush in the pan and it glide onto the skin so easily and it doesn’t leave great big white patches. It blends out effortlessly and leaves your skin feeling absolutely amazing. You cannot tell at all you’ve applied any powder, it’s not heavy on the skin or cakey but you know it’s there and holding all your makeup in place and covering up creases. I also think it adds a nice tint to the skin, blurring out pores and helping you to get even more flawless skin without added coverage. There’s no flash back on photo’s so far, I’ve not had a problem with it at all.
It lasts okay, I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve tried, but it does it’s job, at best it’s probably kept my makeup in place for about 10-12 hours and then then started to fade around my nose and quite a lot on my chin and you could see where my foundation has started to come away too, and it’s not been all the great during the hot weather either so I have used better setting powders but I’ve also used worse. Overall, I will definitely be continuing to use it, I don’t know if I’ll repurchase but that’s just because I have so many other powder that I prefer, but if it’s what you’re looking for, it’s a steal for the price.
Have you tried anything from Rimmels new #Insta range?
