5 Things To Do Every Morning To Have A Productive Day
I’ve been so much more productive lately, after quite a bust start to July I’m finally finding a bit of time to get things done, but because I’ve got so behind with so much I have a lot more that does need doing so I need to be having a productive day, everyday. There’s 5 things that I do first thing every morning that sets me for the rest of the day.
Open The Curtains //
If I’ve ever got up and left the curtains closed, I’m like 80% less productive than I would be if they were open, especially in the Summer. There seems to be nothing more helpful than getting all the sunlight in the house to boost that motivation.
Have Breakfast //
I never skip breakfast anymore, I’ll even get up earlier if need be just to make sure I eat because if I don’t then I know full well that I’ll be having a very bad day. It doesn’t have to be anything amazing, especially if you’re going to be in a rush, a bowl of cereal will do but just make sure you get something!
Get Ready //
Nothing beats a pyjama day, and I fully expect you to have one as much you can, but, if you’ve got a lot of work to do, staying in your pyjama’s will not help one bit. Being comfortable and cosy makes you lazy, and getting up and out of bed, dressed ready for the day gives your mind the impression that you’re are ready to get to work.
Read Something, Watch Something //
You’d think this is probably the most unproductive thing ever, especially if you are easily swayed in to ‘just one more chapter, one more episode’ but if you give yourself a bit of discipline you’ll notice the benefits. I usually catch up on a couple of things from the night before that I missed while I eat or I’ll read a couple of chapters to get it out of my system but, I’ve found that catching up on my favourite bloggers latest posts or watching a motivational Youtube video, like planning, helps me so much and gives me so much inspiration that it lasts all day.
Tidy Up //
There’s quite a few reasons I’ll tidy before I start my ‘work day’ and they’re all just as important as each other. You get to burn a bit of energy or stress – I find cleaning one of the most calming things and if I’ve got a lot to do that day, I know having a tidy will relieve a bit of that pressure. If you work from home, having a clean/tidy work space can boost productivity to no end. Whenever I haven’t I’ll find myself doing little jobs throughout the day which takes me away from my laptop and I loose all concentration. You can also grab everything you’re going to need, you can set your laptop up with all your notebooks and pens and this and that so there won’t be any ‘oh I need *insert item here*’ and having to get up and waste time looking for it, you can just get on with what needs doing.
