How To Stay Motivated This Autumn/Winter
I always lack motivation at this time of the year, and that’s because of the weather. Autumn makes me so lazy, all I ever want to do is snuggle down with the fire on and do absolutely nothing except watch TV and read books. But that of course is not possible no matter how much I wish it was, we all still have work to do. I’ve found 5 things that have helped me this year to stay motivated and keep the inspiration flowing.
Plan, plan, plan
One of the best tips I could give you is to plan, plan out your days, plan out your content, just plan everything and once you’ve got it all planned out and all the inspiration flowing you will feel the motivation slowly coming back to you. It makes such a difference for me to have all my content laid out in front of me and it kind of pushes me to get it done, just the same with to-do lists too. Ticking off that task that’s been there forever feels incredible. It also helps to get ahead too, then you know you’ll be able to treat yourself to that cosy duvet day you’ve been so looking forward too.
Buy new stationary or start a new bullet journal
I have one main planner/notebook that I use for absolutely everything, but knowing that the Autumn months were coming, I decided to start a new one, and get it a bit more organised. So I went looking for inspiration. I watched hundreds of planning/bullet journal videos and came up with loads of ideas to plan out my notebook. I spent ages rearranging everything and making it look all pretty and it’s made such a difference. Planning is now a lot more fun and a lot more inspiring too, especially since I bought myself some cute new pens too.
Manage your time realistically
If you work full time, it can be even harder to get anything else done now. You go to work in the dark and you come home in the dark too which can make doing anything a lot more harder and all you want to do is sit in front of the TV with your dinner and take a nap, but if you plan out your time and what you’ve got to do, realistically, everything won’t seem as daunting. Always make sure to give yourself a break and have a couple of nights off, even spoil yourself to a pamper evening because if you don’t you will burn out and not feel like doing anything at all.
Keep it light
You might not really realise this but If you’re planning to get things done in the evening, make sure to use bright lighting and if your doing it in the morning, make sure to open your curtains. I say this all the time because lighting can make all the difference when it comes to motivation. Dark dull spaces definitely make me feel more tired than motivated and nothing good ever comes out of that. Also try using different bulbs, especially if you’re using energy saving bulbs, you’ll noticed how much it helps straight away.
Look for inspiration
I know I say this a hell of a lot, but finding inspiration always makes me feel super motivated no matter what I’m doing. Blogging, cooking, even cleaning if I have a quick search on Pinterest, I know I’ll find inspiration that will motivate me instantly. Another thing that really helps me find inspiration for my blog is looking back over my old blog content or having a scout around in my makeup collection. I always end up with a huge list of new posts that I want to write and that always motivates me to get back into writing.
