5 Simple Ways To Unwind After A Busy Day
This year has been a very busy one for me, I actually cannot remember the last time I wasn’t rushing about for something or the last time someone said ‘what you got planned today’ and I could answer ‘absolutely nothing’. I’ve literally forgot what it was like to not be busy and I’m becoming quite accustomed to it now. I do however try to take most evenings off, I usually end up getting sat down at about 8pm but if I’m lucky I do get a couple of days a week where I take the whole evening to myself. I’ve got 5 things that really help me unwind when I’ve had a bit of a hectic day that I thought I’d share them today.
Turn off your phone
We are all guilty of over working, especially when your ‘work life’ is online and you can access it so easily from your phone but you need a break, we all do sometimes, so turn off your phone, or at least put it on do not disturb and get the emergency bypass on for any of your contacts that might need to get in touch with you. I usually fail at this because I feel guilty about being ignorant, but letting people know, maybe sharing a tweet saying you’re taking the night off will really help with that and you won’t feel as bad about it.
Have the best bubble bath ever
I would say have the best pamper session ever, but I know that sometimes when you’ve just had a day of it, you are not in the mood, but a bubble bath works just as well, especially if you’ve got a couple of Lush bath bombs to spare. Sticking on a bit of Youtube or your favourite music doesn’t go a miss either.
Read, watch or listen
There’s nothing better than forgetting about your life for a little bit and getting lost in a good book, series or podcast, but make sure don’t pick up your phone. Get yourself cosy for the night, get in your cosy pjs, order yourself that takeaway you’ve been craving, have that glass of wine and spoil yourself because you can.
This may seem like the complete opposite of unwinding, but all that stuff in your head is probably making it quite hard to chill out, so if you get all that out, on paper, schedule what you need to and so on then you’ll be able to forget about it without worrying that your going to forget something. Plus it’ll help you keep organised and get you ready for the day ahead.
Have an early night
How often do you really let yourself get an early night? My guess is not that often, but it’s honestly the best thing ever and it makes you feel so much better the day after too. Try and focus on something else for a little while, read a book until you’re dropping off or try listening to something that calms you but make sure you go to sleep.
