Last month the gorgeous Jackie surprised me to what has quickly become one of my favourite mascara’s, the Buxom’s Lash Mascara. And it obviously goes without saying that I’m overly thankful to Jackie for spoiling me to such an amazing surprise, you should have seen my face when I opened it. Jackie is a diamond. & of course I have to review it too!
I definitely judged a book by it’s cover here, because, for me, it’s all about the brush when it comes to mascara and as soon as I saw it, I loved it. I knew instantly that I was going to enjoy this mascara because that brush is completely jam packed with bristles, I hadn’t even tried it and I was already telling Jackie that I loved it. I of course didn’t wait very long to actually give it a go and I was not disappointed
The packaging is pretty standard. The tube is plain black with Buxom down the front, and the lid is silver, so it’s the box that steals the show. I do love a nice pretty packaging, but I don’t particularly mind plain back either, I actually quite like it to be honest. The box is what has the main information on, the only thing it doesn’t say is that it’s waterproof, and when I had a quick google to find out more about it, every site said that it is waterproof, and it definitely works like a waterproof mascara., a good one at that too.
So if you haven’t already guessed, I love the formula, I only really liked it at first, the brush was still stealing the show and that was, as per usual, because the formula was really wet, I don’t even know why I mention it any more because whenever a mascara is first opened, it is always super wet, but like I normally do, I gave it a few days of testing to settle down and guess what? I’d dried up to just the right consistency and I started to love it. It is a little clumpy, but in a good volumising sort of way but I can’t see anyone with sparse lashes being able to get on with it because it is a very thick sort of formula and it does pull your lashes together a bit, working at it helps a lot though, you don’t even need to work at it a lot either, just a few wiggles of the brush and it fans out your lashes perfectly.
The first thing that shocked me when I tried it was how incredible it is at adding length, so far it’s the best mascara for length. It was literally like adding lashes to my lashes, I couldn’t believe how long it made them look and so easily too, this was with only one coat. Because the formula is quite wet, I did let it dry before I added another coat – which is definitely the best way with this mascara – and it added sooo much more volume, it was like I’d already applied 3 coats before hand when really I was only on my second. It gives a nice curl, it dries down really fast so it manages to hold your lashes up, it’s not the best I’ve ever tried, but it’s good and the length and volume completely make up for it.
With how quickly it dried, I was worried it make be a bit flaky, but so far so good. I’ve not had any flakiness at all, even after a 15 hour day and no smudging either, my eye’s water a lot, the tiniest bit of wind and my eye’s turn into taps but this mascara handled it very well, it didn’t run at all, it did get a bit wet of course but it stayed put all day long. As soon as I found out that it was waterproof, I was instantly worried about removing it, especially since it adds so much with each coat but luckily you couldn’t even tell it was a waterproof mascara. It came off as easy as any other mascara I’ve tried so there wasn’t any excess wiping of tugging like some waterproof mascara’s.
And over all, if you couldn’t already tell, I love this mascara. I adore the length that it gives, I think I’ve only ever tried a handful of mascara’s that have offered as much in terms of lengthening. I’m stunned by the beautiful brush that makes your lashes perfectly fanned and I love how much volume it gives after only a couple of coats. I know I’ll be obsessing over this mascara for a while.
