Christmas Q&A with All Things Jacqui
I am back with another collaboration with Jackie! We were having a chat about what we could do for Christmas and we both decided that the best thing to do would be a Christmas Q&A. We’re both going to answer the same questions on our own blogs, Jackie’s post is here, so make sure to have a read of that, I’ve linked it at the bottom for you too. I’m seriously looking forward to answering these questions, so let’s get on with this Christmas Q&A
When do you feel like it’s Christmas?
Well Christmas kind of starts in November with all the Christmas releases and the adverts and so on, but for me, it’s not Christmas until December 1st. I avoid the Christmas music and so on until the first of December so that I feel more excited when it finally comes around.
Who’s your favourite person to buy presents for?
I don’t actually know, you know. I hate buying for my mum, she’s unbelievably picky, and so is my partner, so can I say my dog? She loves everything! I enjoy buying for my sister though, she loves everything I love so I find buying for her really easy. In fact, there’s going to be a new baby in the family this year, fingers crossed just before Christmas and he’s been so fun to buy for, I absolutely adore buying baby clothes!
What is your favourite Christmas film?
Well, there’s a bit of a divided opinion on my favourite Christmas film, which is The Nightmare Before Christmas, a lot of people watch it for Halloween, but it’s always been a Christmas film for me and I’ve watched it every single year for as long as I can remember. My mum bloody hates it now, but I can’t get enough of it, it definitely gets me all giddy for Christmas. I also absolutely adore Elf, that’s the first Christmas film I ever watch every year.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
Probably the easiest question ever – The Pogues, Fairytale Of New York – I’ve had this song on repeat since December first. I do have 2 other favourites though, one being The Power Of Love, either by Frankie Goes To Hollywood or Gabrielle Aplin, she’s probably my favourite though and of course, Slade, Merry Christmas Everybody.
Wrapping presents or gift bags?
Oh, both actually. I don’t usually give gifts without wrapping them and putting them in a bag, unless they’re too big.. I even have special boxes that I use every year, I love going to town on the wrapping and so on.
Real or artificial tree?
Artificial, I can’t be doing with a real tree tbh, I’d love one, but they droop and the drop their needles everywhere so I just prefer an artificial one.
Your favourite Christmas memory?
I don’t know actually, one Christmas I proper remember is one up at my grandmas, I used to love spending Christmas at my grandma’s, anyway I’d opened all my presents already and I thought I was done so I was happily playing with my Baby Born when my mum pushes this huge box into the room and when I unwrapped it, I realised she’d bought me this fancy play house thing with a kitchen and so on for my Baby Born and I remember nearly crying because I was too happy to play with it haha and I don’t think I stopped playing with it for about a month.
How do you spend Christmas?
Well now we normally spend it at my mums and all the family come round for dinner and board games but this year I think we’re going to my brothers for dinner, to be honest I’m quite happy about it, it means less cleaning up for me at the end of the day but it is going to feel quite weird not having Christmas at home.
What is included in your Christmas dinner?
Well, not much really – I don’t like sunday dinners (sorry to everyone I’ve offended) So I don’t particularly like Christmas dinner either. We obviously have a prawn cocktail for starters, and for dinner. we usually have a chicken because turkeys just awful, with yorkshire’s, stuffing all the veg, potatoes and then trifle or gateau for afters.
Star or angel on top of your tree?
We used to have a really pretty star but one year the lights stopped working so we went back to our old traditional angel, it’s proper tacky and I love it. And for the other trees, we have one with a star and one with another angel.
When do you start Christmas shopping?
I always start my Christmas shopping in November, I only ever get the weekend to do the shopping so if I don’t start in November, I’d never get it done.
How many people do you buy for?
I think about 20 -25 people all together, and I buy for all the dogs in the family too, but that’s really fun so they don’t count. I’ll have 5 nephew’s this year too, I bloody hate buying for kids because they’ve all got everything already, although one will be a newborn like I mentioned earlier and I’ve loved shopping for him.
Your favourite present you have bought someone, in previous years?
One present that wasn’t really ‘special’ was my mum’s iPad last year, she was always stealing mine, and she loves playing all the games so I thought I’d save as much as possible and I spoilt her to her very own iPad, it’s been the best present because she’s never been off it. But one year I did a canvas and photo book for everyone in the family and I loved putting them altogether for everyone and they all loved them!
Do you have anything on your Christmas list this year?
Actually, I have absolutely nothing on my Christmas list, I’ve just told everyone to get me what they want haha. I think I’ve only asked for a new Vera Wang Princess. I’m pretty easy to buy for tbh because I like everything so I never really ask for anything. Although, it’s reminded me that my straightners are on their way out.
Do you have a favourite Christmas decoration?
It’s a bit daft really, but one year, my Grandma bought me this singing snowman for Christmas and we now put it out every year as a decoration, so that’s special. We also have this seriously old Father Christmas that’s really tacky and very 90’s and I love him, I don’t know what I’d do if he broke *touch wood* because he’s definitely quite a special decoration.
And that’s it! 1000 words later, but it’s Christmas so that’s okay!
