Gosh Volume Serum Mascara
I know I’ve only just done a mascara review but I needed to share this one with you. I’m always saying that I want to try different mascara’s, and I don’t just mean ones I haven’t used before, I mean yeah of course, I love mascara, but I mean weird mascara’s, different mascara’s. Well, my fella must be able to read minds because he surprised me last month to the Gosh Volume Serum mascara, although, he admits he had no idea what the brush looked like when he bought it, and I’ll also admit that I had no idea at all what the brush was going to look like until I opened it too, and I was very surprised. He also had no idea that ‘suitable for lash extensions’ meant that it’s a mascara to be used with lash extensions, it’s not that obvious really and I suppose it means that it can be used but still, it didn’t help that I don’t regularly have lashes on, so I was a bit like, shall I even bother to try it? Of course my curiosity got the better of me and I just had to. So I got my individual lashes out and put on a few, I didn’t go wild, just a couple to fill out my lashes a bit more and then tried the mascara for the first time.
The brush is nothing like any brush I’ve tried before, I’ve always gone for massive brushes with hundreds of bristles so trying out a mascara with a flat brush and ‘bristles’ on each end for the first time was very daunting, I just knew I was going to end up smudging it absolutely every where and poke my self in the eye about 50 times. Luckily I didn’t poke myself in the eye, but there was quite a lot of smudging going on, it took me quite a few attempts to hold the brush right, I just couldn’t get used to it at all. There’s a hell of a lot of mascara that comes out with the brush, and it’s very wet, so every time I ‘missed’ and used the flat bit by accident, mascara went everywhere. After a lot of frustration I finally got the hang of it and then I started to enjoy it. All the excess mascara that I’d accidentally applied was brushed away instantly when I used the long bristle side, which is created for separation, and then the shorted side, which is created for definition, added all the volume back, but to the right place, rather than clumps at the ends of my lashes and I actually managed to make it work. It offered a lot of volume and quite a good bit of length but that was about it.
I still wasn’t happy though that is had to be used with lash extension’s because I knew by the time I next put any on, it’d want throwing away so guess what I did? I tried it without. I wasn’t expecting anything at all, I already knew it wasn’t going to work, I just didn’t have enough lashes to run the brush through but it wasn’t as bad as I thought at all. It wasn’t good though, but I still wasn’t happy and really wanted to find a way to make it work, without lash extensions. So, I applied my regular mascara, which is the Avon Supershock, and out on a bit of the L’Oreal Paradise Extatic. These two together always give me the false lash effect so I thought maybe it’ll offer a bit more if I pair them all up. And my god did it. I don’t know how it works, I really wish I did but it bloody does somehow. Instantly my lashes looked so much more volumised, so much more longer and so much more defined.
I still hate the fact that it’s such a wet mascara and to be honest, I don’t think I’d repurchase but I’m happy enough with it, and even happier at the face that I managed to get it to work for me. And I’m especially happy at how well it works too. I mean, it’s very over board, very, very, overboard, in terms of effort and look, I wouldn’t go out everyday with lashes ready for a party and I couldn’t be bothered to put in all that effort to achieve that look either, but I know what I’ll be using when I am wanting a more dramatic look. I can’t recommend it to anyone though, unless you wear false lashes, I just wouldn’t let you waste your time, or your money to be honest. It doesn’t work alone, and it takes so much effort to use with other mascara’s but, like I said, if you do wear falsies a lot then this could be the perfect mascara for you.
What do you think to the Gosh Volume Serum Mascara?
