Beauty Q&A With All Things Jacqui

Since our last Q&A went down so well, me and Jackie both decided that we should do another, and this time, make it about something that we both obsess over, which is obviously beauty. Jackie came up with 9 makeup questions and 6 skin care questions for us both to answer, so that you could all get to know a little bit more about us. And if you want to have a go at it yourself, you are free to copy and paste the questions or just answer them in the comments because we’d love to get to know you too. Once you’ve had a read of my post, head on over to Jackie’s here and find out how different our answers were!

What is your earliest memory of makeup?
I’m not too sure actually but it will probably be with one of them really old 90’s kids lipstick things, you know where you pull out each lipstick pan, I did just try to google it to show you what I mean because it’s so hard to explain, but I can’t find them anywhere, hopefully you know what I mean. I had loads of them, and ones for eyeshadows too, I was a makeup hoarder even then!

Full Coverage Queen? Yay or Nay
Yay definitely, I’ve always preferred full coverage, but as I’ve got older, the redness I have on my cheeks has got worse and it stands out so bad sometimes, so I feel loads better with it covered up. Plus I just love the flawless look of a full coverage base to be honest.

If you could live with only one makeup product, what would it be and why?
This is such a difficult question! I think it’d be between mascara and brow powder, I suppose I could wear falsies, but I couldn’t wear false brows so I’d probably go for brow powder and that’s simply because my eyebrows are 1. none existent because they’re blonde and 2. absolutely horrible.

Favourite high-end and high-street brand?
I don’t really have a favourite high-end brand because I don’t really wear high-end makeup, but if we’re talking terms of price, the most expensive brand I use is Younique, and I love it so, it’ll have to be Younique. For the high-street brand I’ll have to go with L’Oreal, everything they have is amazing. Plus, my two favourite foundations are both from L’Oreal.

What brand have you always wanted to try, but haven’t?
There’s so many! I’d love to try Tarte, and Nars actually, I’ve not tried anything from Nars before even though I’m always eyeing up the foundation and Charlotte Tilbury is another brand I haven’t tried anything from but I’d love to. This list could go on and on, but I’ll leave it at that.

You have to leave the house in 5 minutes, what makeup do you have to have on before leaving?
Brows of course, a bit of mascara and probably some concealer too. I’d also probably put a bit of foundation on in reality because I just can’t help myself. In fact, I’d probably be late because once I’ve started I get so carried away and I’d end up with a full on glamour look.

If you could work with any brand, which one would it be?
Oh god another hard question. I honestly have no idea because there’s so many. Thinking about it though, I’d probably go for Tarte because Tarte can be so hard to get hold of and so many of their products look amazing, and everything has brilliant reviews but there’s so many other’s too. Working with L’Oreal, Rimmel, Maybelline, all the brands I love would be like a dream.

Who’s packaging steals the show?
I don’t know you know, at the moment, the new Maybelline x Gigi Hadid range is stealing the show for me but any brand that brings out anything pink/gold/rose gold is a winner in my eyes.

Why do you love makeup?
Oh god, we could be here a while. I love makeup for many reason, the main one being how we can make ourselves feel better, not because we look better to other people or anything like that, but just making that bit of an effort and feeling a little bit prettier, a little bit more ready for the day and all that just feels good. I also love how creative we can get, I could spend hours doing my makeup for no reason at all but to nip to the shop, because it’s fun and it’s exciting and I just love it.

How would you describe your skincare routine?
Simple. Whenever I’ve tried to add loads of things to my skin care routine, it’s become a chore and I quite often ended up skipping it altogether, but when I keep it to the basics, I find it so much easier and I manage to do it every night and it works wonders, there’s not messing about in my routine.

What is your favourite brand?
I love Simple, because I have quite sensitive skin and I know I can trust it, but I am also obsessed with the Seaweed range from The Body Shop. I’ve never used anything like it before, it’s so cleansing and every product leaves your skin feeling so soft, but the best thing about it, is that it controls oil! I hardly have any problems with my t-zone anymore and it’s all down to that range.

Having a pamper evening, what does this consist of?
A nice hot bath of course, a face mask, which is usually a charcoal one, a hair mask, a nice body scrub and a light moisturiser. A book has to be involved somehow, and my pyjama’s must be on the radiator then the rest of the night must be spent watching films while I paint my nails.

What brand have you always wanted to try, but haven’t?
I don’t think there’s too many skin care brands that I want to try because I hate changing my routine in case it effects my skin but I have seen a lot of the Korean brands floating about that I’d quite like to try and I know this is cheating but.. I have tried one Clinique moisturiser and I loved it so I’d quite like to try some more from the range. Oh and Pixi, can’t forget Pixi, so many things have been on my wishlist for decades.

If you could work with any brand, which one would it be?
Again I don’t think there’s too many but I’d love to work with Clinique, they have so many amazing products and judging by the things that I have used, I can practically guarantee I’d love everything.

What do you think is the most important skincare product?
Although cleansing it extremely important, I think I’d say moisturising, I can see a massive difference in my skin when I don’t moisturise and it makes all my makeup sit funny too.Whenever I’ve cleansed and not applied moisturiser, my skin feels awful and so dry I have to apply moisturiser, so moisturising wins for me.

And there you have it! You are completely welcome to have a go at these questions too & if you do, make sure to let me know so I can have a read!
