I know, I know, I’m pretty late to the party. But, that’s because I was debating with myself for quite a while whether to share this post or not, but then I realised, everyone else’s blogging goal posts have really inspired me, so why wouldn’t my goals inspire someone else? I think, about half way through the year, I’ll come back to this post, see how far I’ve come, do a little update and share a couple more that I’ll be setting myself for the rest of the year. For now though, here’s four of my 2018 blogging goals.
The first goal I want to reach in 2018 is another milestone on my blog, and although we all say that numbers don’t matter, and to be dead honest, they haven’t to me for a while – to better phrase that, I haven’t cared as much as I used to for quite a while – I still get that giddy feeling every time I hear WordPress notifying me that some else has just followed my blog, or I see new followers appearing on Bloglovin’ and especially excited when I see people subscribing. It’s just lovely to know that people are enjoying reading what I’m writing. Things have been a little slow though, I am not complaining at all, because my stats have been unreal, but I would still love to be able to reach another goal
Reach some sort of goal on Instagram
I’ve actually given up on Instagram, and I wasn’t going to set a goal for it at all, but I kind of wanted to see if I could maybe reach one? I don’t know. my initial goal late last year was to reach 1,300 followers, which I did reach for all of a day and then it dropped right back down to 1,280. I even did a test at posting everyday for a week (since I don’t normally) to see if more people saw my posts or if more people found me, and that didn’t work, so at the end of that week I just decided to stop trying. I post when I want now and I really do feel a lot better for it. I honestly couldn’t say whether I’ll reach any type of goal because I have been stuck on 1,280 followers for about 5 months (no exaggeration at all) but I want to at least try and get to 1,500, but that’s probably asking too much, unless Instagram sort their algorithm out.
Up my photography game
This ones a bit of a weird goal to be honest, but I’ll try and explain. I don’t think I’m too bad with my photo’s, sometimes I completely hate the photo’s I’ve taken and don’t have the chance to re-take them, but that’s not very often, and I know I always lighten my photo’s a tad too much, but that’s the way I like it and that’s why this goals I little confusing. I have my own style, and my lovely white flowers are my thing, but at the back of my mind I keep thinking you need to change it up, even if it’s just the camera angle but I whenever I have, I’ve ended up re-taking them all in my style. I decided to set myself this goal though, because at the end of 2018, I want to compare my photo’s and see if I have managed to change anything and whether I have improved at all. So it’s kind of a goal, but it’s kind of not too. We’ll see anyway.
Write more personal posts
I’ve got tonnes of personal, life posts in my drafts, but I can never bring myself to actually post them. I don’t know what it is, I don’t know whether it’s because I feel like I’m giving away to much of myself, or just the fact that someone I knew from school might end up stumbling across my blog.. Which I don’t really want, and to write about why I don’t want that to happen, again, seems too personal. But, some of my favourite bloggers are bloggers who share their life on the internet and I much prefer to read a blog when I feel like I really know the person writing it and that’s exactly why I want to start sharing more personal posts. Also, I keep saying that ‘there’s a lot going on in my life at the moment’ and I’ve never been able to explain any of it because it’s all quite personal, but I really do want to break that barrier this year and I’m really going to try a little harder to finally press publish on some of them posts.
